Positive Appearance Center
The Positive Appearance Center (PAC) is a pioneering one-stop center, opened in June of 1994, that helps men and women deal with the cosmetic side effects and comfort needs related to their disease and its treatment. PAC, a non-profit facility, is one of the first of its kind, and is an integral component of research patient care at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. It provides on site information, services, and products that help men and women with all types of cancer diagnoses to deal with cancer’s side effects. The PAC helps patients to "normalize" their appearance while maintaining their dignity.
Patients can find a complete range of mastectomy products, hair alternatives (e.g., wigs, hats, turbans, and scarves), lymphedema garments, sun-protective clothing and lotions, and skin care products for use after surgery or during chemotherapy or radiation therapy as well as many other helpful items. A certified fitter is on site to assist with these services.
The Positive Appearance Center is closed for remodeling. We anticipate re-opening the PAC in 2010 as part of the Margie Petersen Breast Center.
