Benefactors/Circles

The Benefactors and Circles of Distinction are an esteemed and loyal group of donors who share the Wayne Family’s vision to eliminate cancer.  These generous donors recognize the importance of unrestricted seed funding for the innovative cancer research programs of the John Wayne Cancer Institute. 

Founded by Nancy and Carroll O'Connor, the Benefactors program is the Institute's annual giving program and the Circles of Distinction program recognizes donors who have made a dramatic impact on cancer research.  Benefactors make annual gifts of $2,000 or more while Circles of Distinction members provide major funding for the Institute by making a commitment of $25,000 or more.  

Benefactors and Circles members support the fundamental needs of the Institute and sustain programs vital to our mission including our Seeds of Innovation fund, the Surgical Oncology Fellowship program and much more. Their giving allows the Institute to fund new ideas and innovations that will improve care for cancer patients.

Members of the John Wayne Cancer Institute Benefactors program receive the following benefits on an annual basis:

• An invitation for two to our annual gala dinner.  A wonderful addition to the holiday season, the evening is a unique opportunity to foster and strengthen friendships with fellow Benefactors and others within the JWCI community, including key members of the faculty and staff.
  
• Name recognition on a commemorative plaque as part of the Benefactors Donor Wall, located in the lobby of the Institute.
  
• Special invitations to our ongoing educational series.  Established exclusively for our major donors, this program features comprehensive updates on a wide range of cancer-related topics.  Presentations and question-and-answer sessions with our distinguished faculty are the focus of these intimate evenings.  These forums provide a unique chance to learn valuable information firsthand, as well as to network with like-minded philanthropists and JWCI supporters. 
  
• A commemorative gift designed especially for our donors.

Members of the John Wayne Cancer Institute Circles of Distinction program receive all of the Benefactors benefits plus:

• Name recognition on a commemorative plaque as part of the Circles of Distinction Donor Wall, located in the lobby of the Institute.
  
• A custom-designed solid gold and diamond John Wayne logo pin bearing the jewel of their Circle.
  
• A Circles of Distinction Member Benefit Card, providing numerous benefits including complimentary parking for JWCI and Saint John’s Health Center, as well as private room priority, expedited admission and discharge at Saint John’s.
